I post notes about imaginaries, music, photography, technology, my travels & everything else that comes to my mind. Posts are not necessarily connected to my work.

LEICA SL2 vs SL2S Test Drive

In late 2021, I was revisiting LEICA’s SL system and gave both the SL2 and the SL2S a spin, thanks to the LEICA Store Düsseldorf. Both cameras were offered with the new LEICA Vario Elmarit-SL 24-70 f/2.8 ASPH. lens as part of a bundle along with a LEICA M-Adapter L to mount M-lenses on the SL2 or SL2s. Until finally deciding to go for the LEICA M10-P White Edition, I was a passionate LEICA SL Typ 601 user. Apart from […]

Card-Based Learning Objective Design Method for Collaborative Curriculum Design

In June 2021, I attended the 7th International Conference on e-Society, e-Learning and e-Technologies ICSLT 2021 hosted by University of Portsmouth, UK. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference was held in a remote format. Adding 6-bit Coding to LEICA M Lenses

Even though it does not have any impact on optical performance whatsoever, I really like LEICA M lenses to be 6 bit coded. Also among used lenses, this is often a reason for premium pricing, so I try to get coded lenses whenever feasible. However some may not have it and I still want it. Why that is and 6 bit coding can be done to even vintage lenses from the 1960ies? Let’s have a look. 6 bit coding of […]

Paper on Entrepreneurship Policy Discourse and its Network of Actors in Hamburg, Germany

In May 2021, I attended the NWK 2020/2021 conference hosted by the Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena (EAH) in Jena, Germany. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference in 2020 was cancelled and my paper “Entrepreneurship Policy Discourse and its Network of Actors in Hamburg, Germany” was now presented in a remote format during the 2021 event. Abstract: Even though policy makers often associate entrepreneurship, especially startups and their alleged innovative high-growth potential, to job creation and economic growth, this link is subject […]

Learning Design Tools

In recents months I worked on a series of practical tools and canvases intended to support educators in ideating, designing, implementing and delivering better learning experiences. Based on academic research in the field of learning experience design, I created a new project with my fellow collaborator Stefano Perna to provide access to these learning design tools. We started a website, conveniently named learningdesign.tools to share our tools and canvases with the world of educators, content creators, knowledge workers and organizational […]

LEICA ELMARIT-M 90mm f/2.8 – Losing a Stop and a Burden

After some time with the LEITZ SUMMICRON 90mm f/2 beast from the 1960ies, it was time to shift gears to a more light-weight setup. Even though the lens has been LEICA’s finest high-speed telephoto lens for decades, more recent models are much smaller in size and weight. As seems clear from the below photo, the SUMMICRON is a monster in the rangefinder dimension. It has excellent build quality and outstanding performance even after 60 years of service. But it is […]

Create with Swift

In early 2021 I co-created a new website about app development with Swift together with Giovanni Monaco and Tiago Pereira. We named the project “Create with Swift” to spark creative expression through technology: “We are a diverse community of coders and designers, passionately in love with Apple technologies, the Swift programming language and its ability to empower anyone to create and share their ingenuity through code.” Create with Swift As Apple certified Trainers for Apple Development with Swift, we aim […]
