Powermat Wireless Charging at Starbucks in Palo Alto

I recently went to Starbucks in Downtown Palo Alto for some Frappuccino to kill some time. While waiting for the hours to pass, surfing the web on my iPhone, I ran out of power quickly. This is when I noticed the Powermat wireless charging stations they offered in the store. This is how it works: “Powermat lets you power your phone without wires or cords or worries. Simply visit one of our Powermat locations. They’re easy to find using our […]

Omakase menu at Sushi Ran

During my recent trip to the San Francisco Bay Area in October 2015, I had to make my mandatory visit to Sushi Ran, my all time favourite Sushi Restaurant in Sausalito. I have been there quite often over the past 12 years and have written about it many times. My last visit to Sushi Ran was during the WWDC 2014. If you are interested, check it out. This time around I went twice, this being a short post about the first visit. […]

8mm film – Considering costs for using 8mm film

As you might remember, I started experimenting with my LEICINA SPECIAL Super8 camera and finally made it to send in the first cartridge of Super8 8mm film material for development. I used Kodak Tri-X black & white Reversal Film and chose Wittner Cinetec in Germany as a service provider. About 2 weeks after sending my material I received the developed film.  Costs to shot, develop and digitise 8mm film A 50ft (15m, around 3.5 minutes at 25 fps) cartridge costs 25€ to develop including shipping costs. Considering […]

1965 Mustang Convertible Insignia Details

I really like vintage Ford Mustang muscle cars from 1965-69. Here are some insignia shots of the 1965 Mustang Convertible I wrote about earlier as well as a glance at the “1965 Registered Owner’s Manual”. Don’t they look just awesome? I especially like the manual. It is far more fun than any contemporary car manual I have ever seen. Ford Mustang’s have been built ever since 1964 and created the term “pony car” as a class of American automobiles with long […]

Tumblr importer for WordPress – Why it sucks.

A week ago I decided to move my Tumblr blog to WordPress using the Tumblr importer plugin. I moved the blog for various reasons, more possibilities for customisation being among them. Ever since 2010 I only used Tumblr because of its easy of use. In 2012 I started using moritzrecke.com as a custom domain with my Tumblr blog. Since I didn’t want to loose old content or the corresponding URLs on my domain, I wanted to migrate all posts. Tumblr importer WordPress offers an […]
