iPad Keynote Remote

Long live the iPad… and Keynote

As I was updating my Keynote for iPad app today, I notices two things: First, it now runs on the iPhone. Second, it supports the Keynote Remote app. I like this app already as it allows me to remote control my desktop Keynote presentations. With the combination of these two apps, the iPad 2 finally becomes a powerful business device. As I have an iPhone anyway I am good to go with my new presentation setup. Using the video mirroring functionality of […]

Elbjazz 2011

The Elbjazz Festival in Hamburg

Today I am going to the 2-day jazz festival in Hamburg, called ELBJAZZ. It is the second jazz festival in Hamburg with 50 concerts on 10 stages. Among many others there are artists like Charlie Haden, Don Grusin, Kurt Elling, Nils Landgren, Nik Bärtsch, Nicola Conte and Paolo Nutini. For more information about the event visit the ELBJAZZ website (German). This year the festival comes with an ELBJAZZ iphone app, which is quite a nice gadget. As anyone needs a mobile […]

Apogee Jam – studio quality guitar input for iPad and GarageBand

As mentioned earlier, GarageBand for iPad is a nice mobile recording studio. That you need to record your guitar with the integrated guitar amps is this: JAM by Apogee

Garageband for iPad

Long time, no groove… GarageBand for iPad

After reading several reviews of Apple’s GarageBand for iPad, I couldn’t resist. For just 4,99 $ it seems to be the best 8 track recording studio I’have ever seen. If you are interested I recommend this review by iLounge. At least trying out the drums is something you shouldn’t miss. I especially like the integrated sampler, allowing you to record your own samples. External microphones would be a recommended accessory for this. There is a integrated sample library in addition to you […]

Seamless iOS App

Don’t stop the music… with Seamless

Just recently I discovered a very cool iPhone app, called Seamless. What it does is quite simple: It crossfades music playing in itunes on your Mac to your iPhone – seamlessly. You might think this is an app of no real use to anyone, but try it for yourself. I certainly wouldn’t miss it for the world. Here is the ad for the app (nicely done by the way): It works like this: You have to install the Seamless app […]

iPad 2 release at Apple Store Alstertal Hamburg

iPad 2: GPU benchmarks

I got the iPad 2 on its release date (March 25, 2011) at the Apple Store Alstertal Hamburg. After about 6 hours waiting in line, I opted for a 32GB model with 3G. The iPad 2 is a beautiful piece of technology and finally implements what I was waiting for: Video Mirroring. With a 30-pin to HDMI adapter one can see everything on the iPad and on any HDMI compatible TV or beamer. This is a killer feature for me. […]

Apple's product evolution from 2000 to 2010

1000X smaller and 100X lighter for a third the cost

This graphic has circulated a few times, showing the improvement from an iMac in 2000 to an iPhone 4 2010. 1000X smaller and 100X lighter for a third the cost. Source: weliveinthefuture Well… at least the iMac had USB… but that’s about it.

iPad DAW Controller

AC-7 Core – virtual DAW controller for the iPad

When using Apple Logic Studio 9, a DAW controller always comes in handy. Any control unit of higher quality easily costs more than $ 1,300 (e.g. the Mackie MCU). Now there is an alternative: the first sophisticated iPad DAW controller app AC-7 Core from Saitara Software. The apps run on iPads/iPhones/iPod Touches running iOS4.2 or higher. Wether this app solves all your problems or not, it is quite a setup for small money. For myself I must admit I still […]

Inception - The App

Hans Zimmer and the Inception iPhone app

A week ago the free Inception iPhone App was introduced. It’s a project by the movie’s director Christopher Nolan, Michael Breidenbrücker and Hollywood’s star composer Hans Zimmer. As an absolute Hans Zimmer fan, I tried it out immediately and I must admit, it is intriguing. It uses augmented sound through the iPhone’s headset to change the “dream” your are experiencing which is underlined by music composed by Hans Zimmer. This app is a dream machine that transforms the world around you into a dreamworld. […]
