The Art of the Start 2.0 by Guy Kawasaki

Guy Kawasaki - The Art of the Start 2.0

A few days ago, I received a review copy of Guy Kawasaki ’s latest book, an updated and mostly rewritten version 2.0 of The Art of the Start, his bestselling book from 10 years ago. As most of you know, Guy was an advisor to the Motorola business unit of Google and chief evangelist of Apple and still keeps busy as an executive fellow at the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley and a Venture Capitalist.

The 64% longer version 2.0 of his “Time-Tested, Battle-Hardened Guide for Anyone Starting Anything” provides insights and advice on how to start a company with lots of updates around topics such as social media, crowd founding, cloud infrastructure etc. As I read most of Guy’s books, I can say it basically is the latest and up to date collection of his tips & tricks, distilled though decades of his experience.

Most stories are well known to me from his talks or previous books. Still, I enjoyed reading it and consider his insights to be both true and compelling. His stories and remarks on creating meaning vs. pitching business plans, the 10-20-30 rule and his get going approach are enjoyable to his day.

If you are interested, I recommend checking out “The Art of the Start 2.0”, available on March 3 2015 and some of his many keynote speeches on Youtube, all of them being quite entertaining.
