I still remember the times during my studies of media technology when I dreamed of someday owning a Leica camera. Although I was happy with the Nikon F2 SLR and Nikon 24mm f/2.8 setup I used during the photography classes I took at university, I kept longing for more. A close friend and I spent many nights debating used camera options available at local Leica dealers but always decided to stay away from it. To be completely honest, we dreamed mostly […]
In late 2016 Leica introduced an instant camera, called Leica Sofort. It utilises Fujifilm Instax Mini instant film material and might prove to be another great addition to the recent instant film revival by companies such as Impossible Project, who just introduced their first analog instant camera after selling refurbished Polaroid cameras for many years. Over the past years I used instant cameras quite a bit and experimented with the Impossible Project Instant Lab and their polaroid compatible film material […]
THE NEW LEICA Q – THE UNVEILING OF LEICA INNOVATION by JAY CASSARIO The Leica Q is the newest compact camera manufactured by Leica in Wetzlar, Germany. It comes with a fixed Summilux 1.4/28mm lens, a full frame 24mp sensor and a built-in electronic viewfinder. I just tried it for a few minutes at the local Leica store in Hamburg, but as far as I can tell, it’s awesome. I really like the feel and build quality of the camera. I […]

There will be just 125 sets available, containing a custom Leica M-P (240), a Summicron-M 35mm f/2 and a Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 lens (and a briefcase), all finished by hand of course and priced at $24,500. This is quite ridiculously priced with a $ 13,500 premium compared to regular retail price of the standard model. Anyway, it is unique for sure.

In addition to showing 500 photographs, there are technical exhibits, films and much more to attract […]
Apparently, there is a new Leica Shop or Boutique in the making in San Francisco at 463 Bush St. No sign indicates, when it will be opening – but a notice says, building operations will continue until July 3 2014. Unfortunately, I won’t be around by then but maybe you will be there to take a look…
Leica introduced a new camera system with interchangeable lenses and a new Leica T mount, the Leica T. It is supposed to be positioned between Leica’s X lineup and the M System and is priced at 1.500 € for the body and about the same for each of the two lenses available at launch, a Leica Summicron-T 2,0/23mm and a Leica Vario-Elmar-T 3,5-5,6/18-56mm. Of course, many reviews have been published over the internet already, most of them praising the new […]
Ever since its introduction in 2006, the Leica M8 had a special place in my heart. It was Leica’s first digital M camera and to me it exemplified a perfect transition from analog to digital photography. The camera provided virtually a similar experience to the analog Leica M7 and its predecessors and this was an amazing achievement in comparison to most manufacturers where first digital cameras lacked substantially in user experience and build quality compared to analog predecessors. Despite issues […]
